Baby Shower Cup Cakes.

I was asked to do dessert for a baby shower. So I asked my mother-in-law for help. She makes the best frosting ever. With her help we made 48 cupcakes 24 white 24 chocolate. And a double layered round cake  for the Mother-to -Be to take home and enjoy. And at 8 months Prego probably didn't share with the husband. (I know I wouldn't have.) With Lots of curl ribbon, nuks, and frosting the project was complete.

Fruit Holder?

I have bottles all over in my flower gardens. And now that it is summer I use them as feeders for Orioles.

Recycling, reuse, repurpose yes  indeed, I'm doing my part with Wine bottles.  Offer orange halves firmly placed on top of the bottle branches. Oriole's eat primarily insects, but in summer and fall eat fleshy fruits and berries.

Unique opportunity



 

  

I have turned a quilt top into a quilt. I've done hand tying, hand quilting, machine quilting, and now long-arm machine quilting. I recently had a unique opportunity to quilt on a long arm sewing machine.And I am no expert at the last three by any means. It was fantastic, energizing, relaxing, and accomplishing. I had a seasond teacher (Linda Arganbright) who showed me alot of the basics. Along with a few things she has learned over the years that just make life easier. It is truly something I can't wait to try again!

 

Paper Piece anyone?

This was my first experience with paper piecing. And no it wont be my last but... Oh what a mess it was. I felt like I was ripping paper for a long time. And while I was ripping all that paper I thought what would happen if this quilt would just fall into a wash machine? MMMMMM no never happened I chickend out. I ripped most of the paper off first then threw it in the machine. Yep, Came out paper free it did!

 
Once again Porter approved.

 

A very busy weekend in the loft.

WOW, I have no idea how I got four lap size quilts totaly done this past weekend. Two tops were done I just needed to get them sandwiched together. I found some batting in the couner of the closet and walla big enough to place two quilts on it and do a little top stiching by machine. And in the evenings I was able to get them all bound. No rest for the wicked?

Once again I found a project from a magazine of the past. This one will look great in my Primitive/Country home decor. This antique-inspired little quilt will work great for a wallhanging or table topper.

Spring Cleaning

Doing some extreme spring yard cleaning!

My home is set in the middle of a forest. And the leaves have fallen from dozens of Oak, Maple, and Birch trees.

Took a break from sewing.
 It's the first of May and the temp. is at 30 degrees. Great put on the layers of clothes and spend the afternoon raking, picking up sticks, and mowing.

Primitive Grungy Stain

 This has been a week of daydreaming for me. And some of those daydreams are becoming reality over the next few days ! Couldn't get out in the gardens....so, I was able to really sink my teeth into this project. 

I have been trying to get that grungy stained look a bit more extreme for my crafts.

Coming up with all sorts of concoctions that just were not grungy enough. This new method is my best one yet  and I would like to share the recipie with you.

Primitive Grungy Stain:

 5 Tablespoons of instant coffee to every

1 cup hot water

add 1 Tablespoon cinnamon while the water is still hot so it dissolves better.

Add some vanilla extract to stain 

Mix well keep in a jar. Remember that cinnamon will settle down in the bottom of the jar that's ok it makes a great gooey sludge. Your stain will keep for a long time, you don't have to refrigerate it. I leave mine out all the time.

I air dry my primitives over night. Or put them out in the sun on a nice day.

Enjoy.

All in an afternoon.

This one is way out of the box for me. Flowers on the table, that never happens anymore.  It was a quick table quilt to do. Once again out of a magazine from my mothers stash.

Spring Flowers

Parallel Pups.....

Always up to no good. I thought it would be fun to introduce Harley and Porter.

Missing:  1 sewing machine lint brush.

Accused:  2 adorable Beagles... Harley (the one looking away) and Porter (her partner in crime).

 

Do not let there sweet face and charming nature fool you.  They are convicted felons with a previous record.  This sweet pair have the nose of a blood hound and can sniff out anything.  Ever so sneaky and knows when it is safe to lift your property without getting caught.  They love chap-stick, lint brushes, sewing pincushion tomatoes with needles in them, and cough drops, and they love to chew on cords. 

I forgot to shut the gate to my sewing loft.  Now I can’t find my lint brush.  No, I did not see them take it.  But, who else would have taken it?  It didn’t just get up and walk away on it’s own!  This is not the first time this has happened. Why that brush I don’t know.  It is funny, but frustrating at the same time.  This is a brand new brush!  I just replaced the old brush.  I know they are not expensive, but I just bought it!  I just want it back.
