Cherrywood fabric has been washed twice after the dying process in a soap called Synthropol. This soap is recommended for hand dyed fabrics. It removes the excess dye from the surface of the fabric, keeping the dye in the water and sends it down the drain. Like I said we have done this twice. But we still recommend that you do it again--just to make sure! You know, stuff happens!
Now if you've used Cherrywood and didn't wash it, not to worry. Just wash the finished product in Synthropol. We've had plenty of discussions here about front loading vs top loading wash machines. I have not had as good results with front loaders. Water is necessary to keep the dyes from redepositing on the fabric. If you have a front loader I recommend your sink, bathtub or quilting friends top loader!
I have also used the Color Catcher and Color Grabber. I have had good results with both. I actually wash all my quilts after I get the binding done and I use the Dye Magnet.
Now if you have had Cherrywood run, just wash again. You may have to wash a couple times with synthropol but it should wash out.
If you can't find synthropol at you local shop give us a call. The other 2 products can usually be found at Target, Walmart and some grocery stores.
