I had a little sewing party tonight. Four kids, three moms, and three hours later, we had a finished 4H banner! Our county fair is next week and each 4-H club makes a banner to be judged. Club members made the handprints blocks last month. Tonight I trimmed them all up and the kids designed the layout. We had four people sewing and three people cutting out the letters. It was really fun!
The best part for me was seeing Isaac (15) getting involved and having fun! He has been in 4H since he was 8 and has developed great leadership skills. (sometimes hard to remember we that when I can't get him off the video games!) He is a third-generation 4H member.
Tonight I was able to give lots of pointers to a woman and her daughter who were self taught quilters. The girl is making a table topper for the fair. The mom is motivated to get old projects out now that she has seen my house packed with quilts!
Maybe I will do a little quilting workshop for the club. Gotta get those young kids sewing!!
